mozz-quito

if I was a spider, I would like to live on Philip island.
if I was a spider, and I lived on Philip island, I would be an extremely fat spider.
if I was a spider, and lived on Philip island, I would be extremely fat because all the mosquitos I would catch in my net are GARGANTUAN!

bigger than 20 cent coins, with a nasty bite.
take aeroguard.

and I bet you can't guess where I went for the weekend...

short stories are back

Short stories are back.
I want to say with avengence, but, no, not quite.
But you should be excited for them.

Short stories you should try:
Town- James Roy
set in a suburban town, it goes through all the months and the stories of various people throughout the town. they all interconnect, but that doesn't mean the local residents are aware of how much they're in their neighbours lives. the book is amazing, and the stories vary in seriousness, from something light humoured that will make you laugh-out-loud (beware the train reader) from stories that will make you shudder, or cry... you have to read 'Town' whether you like short stories or not!

Tales From Outer Suburbia- Shaun Tan
again, set in suburbia... but this time, incorporating pictures, and even shorter stories. i don't know if Shaun Tan would like me saying this, but his book is really sweet. it made me smile. it will make you smile too.

Red Spikes- Margo Lanagan
this book is weird. don't contradict me, it is; but underneath the weirdness, it has great morals and ideas. just keep in mind that at the beginning of each chapter, or new story, don't necessarily assume you are human. also, while this book is good, her other one, her older one is better. the one with 'singing my sister down' in it. i think it was called 'beetle juice'? who knows. anyways, the story was so sad... and you can't deny Margo's writing style isn't creepy, but it's still worth the read.

or course there's more, but you can start there.
when you get bored, come back and we can talk about something else.

don't forget to vote for the Inkys and guess what! Kaitlyn's bunny (my sister's bunny Treacle) had babies. they're adoreabubble. we didn't even know the bunny was pregnant. go us.

back to school soon. ewww

a Stamp? 55 cents please...

how long have stamps been 55 cents?
and why did no body tell me they were going up in cost!

Not fair.
I don't like 55 cents.

It'd be just like Maccas icecreams being 55 cents.

Catastrophe for all.

Now that I've broken the bad news, feel free to wallow.
Or you can send me mail. That might make me feel better.
But, I understand if the practice is too expensive for you to partake in it...

Important Mermaid Business

Now: this is an important question to me, that has been gyrating round my brain... and personally, I kind of wish it'd stop. It's distracting.

So, if anyone has any enlightening ideas on the following query, please, do tell.

How to mermaids and mermen, have little baby merpeople?

SERIOUSLY!!!

did mermaids come about from fish eggs and some excited sailors?
one of my friends thinks the mermaids mate with their mouths, sucking... but on what I might add?

Anyways...
I'm sorry to do this to you, but, once you figure it out, please let me know, so I can stop thinking about it.

the future of mermaid civilisations around the world depends on your answers!!!

Two-Minute Noodles

I know you all know what two minute noodles are.

they're noodles, that come in a packet, and take only two minutes on average to cook.

sometimes they take three, or four, but two sounds better on the packet.

also, more often than not, they're MSG in a packet.

See these two minute noodles?

They're called Mi goreng noodles, incase you hadn't noticed...

and I luvv them muchly.

inside, they come in a square of hard noodly goodness.

you've got to know what uncooked two minute noodles look like! don't you?

well... what I was wondering, is, if you cooked them, and the noodles hadn't been chipped like they normally are...

(I've never had a pack of two minute noodles that hasn't had little broken bits in the packet, from some form of banging, or whatever it is two minute noodles get up to in their free time...)

... anyways, carrying on. What I was wondering, was, if the noodles weren't broken... would they be one really really long noodle? or several reasonably long noodles. or does the chipping not affect the noodle length?

just wondering.

let me know.

or not.

because one day, I'd like to eat a really really long noodle. start at one end, and sluurp it all the way to the end...

and I was curious if two minute noodles, one day, could be the way to do it?!

Eurobeat

OK, I'm back from Japan...

I think you should all get excited for the Inky Awards (http://www.insideadog.com.au/)...

and I think you should all get excited for Eurobeat.

I know it's closing night tonight, but, I'll let you know how it goes, because the likeliness of you getting there is slim... I'll keep you posted.

and you should also get excited for the Readers' Cup, which I'll elaborate on later.
so, just be excited in general.

Unless you can find a better, but similar emotion to express towards all these exciting things.

Happy Olympics Opening Day!

Love Emily xoxox

PS> on another note, do you want to know what's in my pockets?
no?
OK... I'll be off then, shall I?
